Mitsubishi Electric’s SelFone Wireless Print Station™ Allows Wireless Printing Without a Wi-Fi Connection

Las Vegas, Nevada., February 7, 2017 — Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc., a pioneer of dye-sublimation photo printing, introduces the SelFone Wireless Print Station™, a Wi-Fi accessory that allows quick and easy printing directly from iPhone® or Android™ smart devices. The SelFone Wireless Print Station™, on display at the WPPI show in Las Vegas, booth #727, will allow professional photographers to offer this feature as an add-on to any wedding or event package.

Unlike most Wi-Fi photo printing, Mitsubishi Electric’s new Smart Selfie Print Station creates a peer-to-peer hot spot, accessible from smartphones or tablets, even with no Internet connection.

“There can be many barriers to getting an Internet signal at a restaurant, hotel or catering center, and the service can be spotty or expensive,” said James Chan, director, marketing and business planning at the Visual and Imaging Systems Division of Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. “With our peer-to-peer, local Wi-Fi hot spot, users don’t need an Internet connection to download an app just to print a photo from their device.”

The SelFone Wireless Print Station™ is a small, self-contained Linux® computer that attaches to and augments the capabilities of Mitsubishi Electric’s CP-D90DW event photo printer. Admin-level users have a wide range of customizable options available, such as creating a custom Wi-Fi SSID name (i.e., Lisa & Mark’s Wedding) or choosing the print size and format.  The SelFone Wireless Print Station™ allows photographers to give event guests the ability to print their own photos in 2×6 strips or 4×6 formats.

“Everyone takes pictures at a wedding, but now guests can print their photos wirelessly, right from their smart phones, and share them immediately with each other,” added Chan. “It’s a valuable benefit that can result in extra income to a photographer’s bottom line, while adding more fun to any event.”

The Mitsubishi CP-D90DW dye-sublimation photo printer is available from some resellers for $999.  Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. expects to ship the Smart Selfie Print Station as an optional accessory for the Mitsubishi CP-D90DW printer  in March 2017, with an suggested  retail price of $349. The SelFone Wireless Print Station™ accessory comes with a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor. Terms and conditions apply.
